Operating Principles

My leadership experience has taught me fundamental operating principles and beliefs that ensure success:

  • Look at everything through the eyes of your customer
  • Involve as many people as possible in solving the challenges facing the organization
  • Be data driven – it takes the emotion out of problem solving
  • Uncover the root cause – roll-up your sleeves and dig into the detail 
  • Walk the talk – visibly support the mission, vision and values
  • Open yourself fully to new ideas – what works today will not always work tomorrow
  • Simplicity trumps complexity
  • Focus on the end-to-end process
  • Listen rather than talk
  • Cultivate an operations mind-set – know how to implement strategies and measure performance
  • Communicate – Communicate – Communicate – there is no such thing as too much communication
